mostcommonwombat ::: Favorites 2007-12-14 04:43:35 cziffra1980's comment is on the money. being familiar with rachmaninoff's own recording, this is very idiomatic of SVR's playing and tempo with Fiorentino also transcribing the orchestral part into his version. listen to his comment that this piece played by himself (ie SVR) it is quite different to how it is played today. __________________________________________________

xswezaq ::: Favorites 2007-09-21 08:39:01 il maestro fiorentino è magico! vero musicista e pianista puro a pari livello di michelangeli e horowitz, i quali l'ho hanno apprezzato e ammirato! grandissimo! __________________________________________________
Noshirm ::: Favorites 2007-07-24 00:23:39 It was of this variation that Rachmaninoff is said to have sarcastically remarked: "This one is for the publishers." __________________________________________________
mpeskett ::: Favorites 2007-07-23 13:10:19 Tempo? Maybe he was using "rubato"? I think he plays it fantastically. __________________________________________________
fairiesinparis ::: Favorites 2007-06-23 20:56:21 What a rush. Geez, I've never heard someone plays the 18th variation like this. Sorry to admit, the tempo was totally wrong. __________________________________________________
cziffra1980 ::: Favorites 2007-04-03 08:55:37 Played by who? I haven't listened to Rachmaninoff play it in a while, but I don't recall it being much different. Fiorentino knew his stuff and did his research. You've probably heard it played too slow. This is very stylistically appropriate Rachmaninoff playing, unlike the crap you hear these days. __________________________________________________
thisisnottakenman ::: Favorites 2007-04-03 02:07:52 take it easy pal, I'm just saying its too fast and different to the original composition. __________________________________________________
