One of the most beautiful station wagons ever produced.. simply great and I am so jealous of the owner... the rear wheel covers looks really good and I have never seen one like it before with these covers. being pillarless also adds to the charm and styling of the vehicle. a really amazing car!! If you ever want to sell it...-- give me a ring.

Brilliant example of a vehicle from Detroit's 'chrome age', esp with its sculptural attention to detail. Underneath would the car have been similar to Chevrolet's 1958's? (which had coils at the rear)... A story about Fiesta - years after Oldsmobile stopped using the name, the name was given for Ford's supermini, named by Henry Ford II himself. When he realized about the Oldsmobile Fiesta, he rang the head of GM to ask permission - their response was "You want fiesta, you can have it"!

We had to circle the field a number of times before the B25 took off. By the time the B25 came into view I was suffering from motion sickness. It was the closest I have ever come to tossing my cookies in somebodies airplane. Since then I have found that ginger pills(pure ginger) are a cure for motion sickness. I saw this on the Mythbusters program and it really works.

The Besler Steam Plane

Description:

A Travel Air 2000 biplane made the world's first piloted flight under steam power over Oakland, California, on 12 April 1933. The strangest feature of the flight was its relative silence; spectators on the ground could hear the pilot when he called to them from mid-air. The aircraft, piloted by William Besler, had been fitted with a two-cylinder, 150 hp reciprocating engine. An important contribution to its design was made by Nathan C. Price, a former Doble Steam Motors engineer. Price was working on high pressure compact engines for rail and road transport; the purpose of the flight was to obtain publicity for this work. Following its unexpectedly favourable reception Price went to Boeing and worked on various aviation projects, but Boeing dropped the idea of a steam aeroengine in 1936. Price later worked for Lockheed where his experience with developing compact burners for steam boilers helped to design Lockheed's first jet engine. The advantages of the "Besler System" that were claimed at the time included the elimination of audible noise and destructive vibration; greater efficiency at low engine speeds and also at high altitudes where lower air temperatures assisted condensation; reduced likelihood of engine failure; reduced maintenance costs; reduced fuel costs, since fuel oil was used in place of petrol; reduced fire hazard since the fuel was less volatile and operating temperatures were lower; and a lack of need for radio shielding. For capacities in excess of 1000 horse power a turbine captures the energy released by the expansion of steam more efficiently than a piston. Thus, the steam reciprocating engine turned out to be unsuitable for scaling up to the needs of large aircraft.

Another great video offering.. the owner is fantastic also.. bet he sounds great singing along inside the Pacer.. I spent a few weeks in 1978 driving around Jasper in my cousins Pacer which was not as good though as the one in your video... unusual car and not the normal design to come out of the USA auto industry.

An unusual machine the Pacer - when it was a concept, it was intended to have a rotary, however when the 1973 fuel-crisis hit a change of plans occured and the car gained AMC 6cylinder and V8 powerplants. The doors are interesting, with how they are different sizes on each side. Pacers were in production until the 1980 model year, however it did not stop automotive designer Mark Stehrenberger from proposing an updated early 80s Pacer, which had the characteristic styling of the original...

Many Airflows would up in crashes because they didn't stop too fast and the steering was so slow. Lots of turns lock to lock. Although they were ahead with hydraulic brakes, others were still mechanical, they were very heavy and slow to stop and slow to get out off being involved in crashes.

When I was 12 in 1948 my father purchased a 1936 Chrysler Imperial Airflow for $500. It was in perfect shape. I will always remember the mother of pearl Speedometer, the plush ride and the radio that had the antenna under the car. It would cruise 80 all day long. Thanks for the memories,

This isn't just a car, it's a piece of artwork. What happened to cars in the 1980's through the 2000's? Why can't they build cars like this with modern updates???? In my opinion there are only a handful of cars today that will become classics.

The Airflow models were in Australia from 1934. One of the famous Chrysler models and still in the road was Eric Hoyes REDEX Rally car run in 1953 around Australia. The car at that time was 19 years old and stayed with the pack as number one until driver weariness caused withdrawal. A great restoration job and YES Iagree why were they not the most successful car in America. My personal transport is a Buick Special series 40 1938 black sedan.
